Ford Motor is calling back roughly 345,000 vehicles, citing the risk of fires stemming from oil leaks. “Crack damage at the edge of the oil separator housing results in a loss of seal support which may lead to an oil leak between the oil separator and engine camshaft cover,” the company told federal regulators. “If sufficient engine oil leaks, accumulates, and migrates to an ignition source, an underhood fire can occur, increasing the risk of injury.”

General Motors is recalling certain electric Hummer trucks and sport utility vehicles that the company says are equipped with malfunctioning tail lights. A software glitch is to blame for lights that could illuminate permanently or not at all, according to GM.

A whole lot of Dodge owners are being asked to take their vehicles to local dealers to get defective software fixed. Dodge recently announced that it is recalling more than 370,000 Durango sport utility vehicles and Ram pickup trucks that the company says have faulty warning lights. The company blames a software glitch.

A recently discovered defect in certain Audi vehicles puts drivers in an unpleasant position. They may not know if they are running low on gas. Parent company Volkswagen is recalling some 46,000 Audis whose fuel gauges may be inaccurate, the company recently told federal regulators. Malfunctioning sensors are to blame for the problem, according to Volkswagen.

The Chevy Bolt is back in production after fire risks prompted a massive recall and stalled new vehicles. General Motors resumed production of the electric vehicles at its Lake Orion Assembly Plant in Michigan in early April, Car and Driver reports. Federal investigators are turning their attention to a rash of electric car fires, following a series of recalls for cars in California and across the country. The probe covers some 138,000 vehicles equipped with batteries made by Korean manufacturer LG Energy Solution, according to the Detroit News. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is trying to make sure that recalls are being launched when needed, according to the Detroit News.
