Ford Rangers Recalled for the Third Time in Four Months

» Posted October 10, 2025Resources | Share This Post

The headaches continue for Ford Ranger pickup truck owners.

Ford recently recalled certain Rangers for the third time in just four months. The company says side curtain airbags could tear when deploying in more than 100,000 trucks.

“Affected vehicles were built with side curtain air bags that may not meet the displacement requirements,” Ford said in a notice filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The defect “increases the risk of injury in a crash,” the automaker added.

The new recall covers certain Rangers from model years 2024 to 2026. Ford is asking owners of recalled trucks to bring their vehicles to authorized service providers for inspection and repair, and to have protective shields installed on both sides of the trucks. Those repairs will not begin until December, however.

The move comes after Ford in August called back more than 300,000 vehicles, including some 2025 Rangers, over failing electronic booster brake systems. The automaker recalled certain 2024 Ranger trucks the same month for defective rearview cameras. In May, Ford said it was recalling more than 4,000 2024–2025 model pickups due to steering issues.

Ford has long held the dubious title of the country’s most recalled vehicle maker. The company, this year, has already shattered the record for total number of recalls - more than 100, and climbing - surpassing the mark set by General Motors in 2014.

Know Your California Lemon Law Rights

Ford may be the recall king, but it is not alone.

These kinds of safety recalls, sadly, are common among carmakers. Major auto manufacturers call back millions of vehicles every year, citing a wide range of defects and malfunctions that put everyone on the road at risk.

Recalls often come long after defective vehicles have left factory floors and dealership lots, sold to unsuspecting buyers. More than 2.5 million vehicles are currently subject to open, urgent recalls, according to data compiled by CARFAX.

There is some good news for car owners and lessors in California: You have valuable rights and protections under the state’s lemon law. An experienced California lemon law attorney can help you understand those rights, consider your options, and take action.

The lemon law forces automakers to perform various repairs on vehicles while they are under warranty. The law additionally forces automakers to buy back - or replace, in some situations - vehicles that they are unable or flat out refuse to fix. That includes covering the purchase price and financing costs, as well as other related expenses.

There is no set number of repair requests or attempts that must be made before the buyback or replacement obligation kicks in.
