Jaguar Calls Back Range Rovers for Faulty Sunroofs

Jaguar Land Rover North America is recalling fewer than 200 sport utility vehicles in which the sunroof trim may detach and fall off, creating a road hazard.

The recall covers certain 2023–2026 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models, according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The SUVs may have improperly adhered trim pieces along the sides of their panoramic roofs.

“An inadequately adhered panoramic roof side finisher could, over time, come partially or completely loose,” Jaguar said in a recall notice. “This could result in distraction to the driver or other road users or, in the event of complete detachment, harm to other road users, particularly pedestrians or two-wheeled vehicles, and increase the risk of injury or a crash.”

The problem stems from a process snafu at Jaguar’s UK factory, where the vehicles were built. The company began investigating the issue in July 2025 after receiving at least 68 reports of trim detachment. Jaguar said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the defect.

The automaker plans to notify owners of recalled vehicles in mid-April. Owners can check the NHTSA website in the meantime to see if their cars are covered.

Jaguar will ask owners to bring their cars to authorized service providers for inspection and repair. Service providers will remove and properly reattach the roof side finishers at no cost to owners.

California Lemon Law Rights for Jaguar, Range Rover Drivers

These kinds of situations are all too common for major auto manufacturers like Jaguar. They recall millions of vehicles in the U.S. alone every year, often citing serious defects that increase the risk of accidents and injuries.

Last year, for instance, Jaguar announced it was calling back some 125,000 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs whose suspensions could detach. The company said at the time that the defect could cause drivers to lose control of their vehicles, increasing the risk of crashes.

That is where the California lemon law comes in. Range Rover and other car owners and lessors in the Golden State do not have to wait for recalls to be issued before getting malfunctioning vehicles fixed.

The lemon law, formally known as the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, requires automakers to perform a wide range of repairs on cars while they are under warranty. The law also requires companies to buy back (or, in some cases, replace) vehicles they are unable or simply refuse to fix.

The buyback requirement includes compensating the owner for any down payment on the car, as well as for monthly loan payments and the outstanding loan balance. The manufacturer is also responsible for towing, rental car, and other related expenses.
