Lamborghini Uru SUVs Recalled for Malfunctioning Cameras

Lamborghini is calling back Uru sport utility vehicles because of a software issue impacting rearview cameras.

Some 11,000 vehicles may be equipped with cameras that may not operate when the cars are in reverse, Lamborghini recently told federal auto safety regulators. The SUVs are not up to federal standards in the U.S., the company said.

“A rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash,” Lamborghini said in a recall notice filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. “Owners who may experience this issue are advised to use extra caution when reversing.”

The recall covers certain 2019–2024 Urus, which were produced between July 2018 and January 2025.

Lamborghini said it plans to notify owners of recalled SUVs via mail by Feb. 16. The problem is that the company does not yet have a fix for the defect. “Remedial action is presently being developed and will be advised in due course,” Lamborghini told NHTSA.

“The analysis determined that the primary issue was software that lacked sufficient robustness,” the company said. “Even minor signal noise can cause register data corruption, potentially leading to the failure of one or more cameras within the Top View System, including the rearview camera. To address this, a more robust software solution that is more resistant to the signal noise is being developed to prevent such failures.”

Lemon Law Rights for California Lamborghini Owners

The recall shows that even high-end vehicle makers have a hard time ensuring their cars are road-safe.

The world’s leading auto manufacturers call back millions of vehicles every single year, often citing serious defects and malfunctions that pose significant safety risks. The announcements typically come long after the cars have left factory floors and dealer lots, sold to unsuspecting buyers.

Fortunately, Lamborghini and other car owners in California have some important rights and protections when it comes to malfunctioning and defective cars. You do not need to wait around for a recall to get your car fixed, with the vehicle manufacturer picking up the tab.

The California lemon law generally requires auto manufacturers to perform a wide range of repairs on vehicles while they are under warranty. The law also forces the companies to buy back covered vehicles that they are not able or refuse to fix. That includes compensating an owner for the car’s purchase price, as well as financing fees, rental car costs, and other related expenses.

There is no specific number of repair requests or attempts that must happen before the buyback or replace requirement kicks in. An experienced California lemon law attorney can help you understand your rights and take action.
