Ram Pickup Trucks Called Back for Tire Defect

» Posted May 29, 2026Resources | Share This Post

Stellantis is recalling about 13,000 Ram pickup trucks due to a tire issue.

The trucks can go faster than their tires can handle, the automaker recently told federal regulators. That can cause them to wear more quickly than anticipated, increasing the chances that drivers lose control, Stellantis said.

The recall covers certain Ram 2500 HD units from model years 2023 to 2026. Some pickups “may have been built with a vehicle speed calibration that can exceed the maximum tire speed rating,” Stellantis said in a recall report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The trucks are equipped with tires that can handle speeds of up to 106 miles per hour. It is not clear, however, how much faster the recalled trucks can travel.

“A vehicle that can exceed the tire speed rating can reduce tire integrity, which can result in compromised vehicle control,” the company continued. “Compromised control of the vehicle can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.”

Stellantis says it plans to notify owners of recalled pickup trucks by June 4. The company will ask owners to bring their trucks to authorized service providers to have the powertrain control module software updated.

California Lemon Law Rights for Ram Drivers

Major automakers recall millions of vehicles across the country every year, citing a wide range of defects that put people’s safety at risk. These recalls often come long after cars leave factory floors and dealership lots, sold to unsuspecting buyers.

Stellantis, for example, recently announced it is recalling nearly 75,000 Ram pickups due to a separate problem. The vehicles’ instrument panels could go blank unexpectedly, according to the automaker.

In late 2023, the company recalled more than 142,000 Ram trucks, citing problems with high-beam headlights and turn signals.

Fortunately, the California lemon law gives Ram pickup owners and lessors in the Golden State some valuable rights and protections. Chief among them is that you do not need to wait for a recall to get a defective or malfunctioning car repaired.

The lemon law, formally known as the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, requires car manufacturers to perform a wide range of repairs on vehicles under warranty. It also forces automakers to buy back (or, in some cases, replace) covered vehicles they are unable or flat-out refuse to fix. That includes compensating the owner for the purchase price, as well as financing fees, rental car costs, and other related expenses.

There is no specific number of repair requests or attempts that must happen before the buyback or replacement requirement kicks in. That is one reason why it is important to consult an experienced California lemon law attorney, who will help you understand your rights and take action.
