Which Cars Are the Most Reliable?

» Posted July 16, 2018Resources | Share This Post

Cars can be very expensive and consumers who purchase vehicles generally have the right to expect that the car they buy will be a reliable one. Unfortunately, there are many circumstances in which vehicles turn out to have unexpected and sometimes dangerous defects.  When problems arise with a car that you have purchased, a San Diego lemon aw attorney should be consulted in order to provide help understanding your remedies under consumer protection laws.

While there is never a guarantee that any car you buy won't develop issues, some cars have a track record of being much more reliable than other vehicles do. In fact, The Progress News reported recently on the 10 most reliable cars that are most likely to reach 200,000 miles or more.

The Most Reliable Cars Likely to Reach 200,000 Miles

According to The Progress News, the 10 cars that are most likely to make it to at least 200,000 miles include the following:

  • Toyota Camry
  • Toyota Prius
  • Toyota Sienna
  • Toyota Corolla
  • Toyota 4Runner
  • Toyota Highlander
  • Honda Accord
  • Honda CR-V
  • Honda Civil
  • Ford F-150

This list of the 10 most reliable cars likely to top 200,000 miles was compiled by Consumer Reports. It compensated for how popular different cars were and then assessed which cars tended to have the least problems while also lasting the longest. Consumer Reports left cars off of the list that were able to last for 200,000 miles or longer only after the vehicle owners spent a substantial amount of money making repairs on the vehicles as the cars started to age.

However, Consumer Reports does point out that the level of maintenance that a car receives can make a big impact on the likelihood that the car will last long enough to hit 200,000 miles and beyond. A well-maintained car that was kept in good condition and that received regular tune-ups and oil changes will last much longer than a vehicle of the same make and brand that is owned by a more careless owner.

Consumer Reports also indicated that cars today are different from vehicles in the past. While these Toyota, Honda, and Ford vehicles tend to have a long track record of lasting and being dependable, cars today have more electronic components than ever before and there is always a chance that these electronic components are not going to hold up as well over time. This could reduce the longevity of any vehicle, even those that are manufactured by dependable car makers and that have long developed a reputation for lasting for a very long time.

No matter which car you buy, there is always a chance that you will end up getting a vehicle that turns out to have unexpected and serious issues. When your new car ends up having problems, you should reach out to a San Diego lemon law attorney for help taking advantage of remedies that consumer protection laws provide to you.
